Apropos Annotation Tool - IPI Records

The database consists of IPI records from the three major mammalian species, Rat, Mouse and Human, current stats are:

• Human IPI: 67756
• Mouse IPI: 51424
• Rat IPI: 41239

All the IPI records are loaded into the database along with their extensive cross-reference list to other datbases such as MGI, RGD, Entrez Gene, Ensembl, Unigene, etc. Gene Ontology, Mammalian Phenotype Ontology and RGD Pathway Ontology annotations are matched to the corresponding IPI records to provide functional annotation. The IPI records are then linked together as ortholog sets using the MGI orthology assignments and the combined annotations for an ortholog set are used in the annotation of protein and gene datasets which can be uploaded to the server by registered users.

Linking in to the IPI reports using common external identifiers can be done via specific URLS:

• /rgd/2004 links to the report for the Rat IPI record(s) linked to RGD ID:2004
• /mgi/MGI:104993 links to the report for the Mouse IPI record(s) linked to MGI:104993
